QUINCE: REDEFINING LUXURY - AFFORDABLE ELEGANCE FOR EVERY HOME

Their $50 cashmere sweaters may have put Quince on the map, but it was actually hotel sheets that inspired the brand’s creation. While on vacation, the co-founders had an epiphany: Why did they allow themselves to splurge on the occasional stay at a five-star hotel—complete with luxurious bed linens—yet were sleeping on low-quality, inexpensive sheets every night at home? What if everyone could afford to fill their everyday lives with the finer things? “Quality should never be a luxury; everyone should have access to it,” says Hannah Samlin, senior buyer for Quince’s home division, emphasizing the brand’s driving philosophy. “That’s how Quince was conceived.”

Since then, this San Francisco–based company has built a reputation for fairly priced, high-quality essentials for men, women, and children, including home goods that are both well-made and affordable. Designers and hospitality managers have been quietly stocking up on Quince’s organic cotton sheets, linen duvets, and Turkish towels in bulk, then outfitting their properties with the premium-quality linens, to the rave reviews of clients accustomed to paying so much more. Now, with “quiet luxury” a mainstream trend—and the insider secret starting to spread—Quince introduced trade partnership benefits in March 2023.

Through Quince’s trade program, industry partners receive a 20 percent discount on orders greater than $250, earning points on select products and referrals that can then be credited back to their account and applied to a future order. Shipping is free, as are returns, which are offered for 365 days post-purchase. Like its products, Quince’s approach to partnership is practical and straightforward, intended to incentivize its best customers to keep styling their properties with—and, by extension, promoting—Quince home goods.

How does Quince keep their prices so low? An industry-disrupting factory-to-doorstep model helps control costs, cutting out much of the traditional retail-industry middlemen. It also lowers carbon emissions, in keeping with the company’s commitment to environmentally and socially responsible business practices. By using natural materials like European linen, Mongolian cashmere, and Indian wool, Quince products not only feel luxurious but last longer too—another plus in the sustainability column.

With Quince’s soft yet durable bed linens and bathroom towels quickly becoming in-the-know designer must-haves, the brand is steadily expanding into categories beyond bed and bath. “Window is one of the most exciting—and fastest-growing—categories for us right now, ready-made from ultra-premium fabrications,” says Samlin. Another is area rugs, most of which are made to order in India. Quince recently launched a limited-edition collection of 20 one-of-a-kind rugs at 144 knots per inch. An 8-by-10-foot wool rug can retail for less than $3,000. “For anyone who appreciates quality and workmanship, that value proposition is mind-blowing,” says Samlin. Rounding out its selection of home goods, Quince also offers pillows and poufs, blankets and throws, tabletop linens, flatware, artwork, and coffee-table books—with new categories added regularly.

The benefit to partnering with Quince? Giving your client the same standard of quality they expect at a fraction of the cost—and staying on budget. Also introducing them to a whole under-the-radar world of luxury goods without the luxury price tag…and earning some credits toward treating yourself.
