HIGHLIGHTS FROM THE 2023 IDS NATIONAL CONFERENCE

This year, we took on New York City for our National Conference and Designer of the Year Awards Gala! New York City is often regarded as the epicenter of design and creativity, so it was the perfect place to celebrate our 50th Anniversary alongside our members and sponsors!

Our National Conference brought together interior designers and industry partners and served as a melting pot of ideas and inspiration. Here, we present 5 takeaways that encapsulate the essence of our best conference yet:

1. OPEN RECEPTION AT TILEBAR

After the first day of educational sessions, we loaded up onto the buses and headed to the Flatiron District for an evening at the TileBar showroom. Cannolis, cocktails, sushi, salad, tarot card readings, and of course gorgeous TILE - it was a great way to kick-off the first day of conference!

2. PROGRESSIVE BRUNCH AT THE A&D BUILDING

The following morning, we headed over to the East-Midtown Manhattan and toured 6 luxury appliance showrooms! Each showroom provided a diverse range of flavors and ambiance, while showcasing their products.

3. ARCHITECTURAL BOAT CRUISE

After the visit to the A&D Building, everybody boarded the boat for a cruise around Manhattan. Along with the views of the city's skyline, drinks, snacks, and tons of laughter, we learned about the rich history and significance of New York City's architectural marvels.

4. YANKEES GAME

We ended the day with an unforgettable experience at the Yankee Stadium in the Bronx. Hot dogs, popcorn, drinks, and ice-cream with a spectacular view in the Benjamin Moore Club Suite.

5. DOTY AWARDS GALA

The final day of National Conference, we began with 3 educational sessions and completed the day with our Designer of the Year Awards Gala! As designers were honored and their exceptional work was applauded, emcee Carson Kressley filled the room with laughter and smiles all night long! It was a glamorous night of inspiration and recognition of our members' contributions to the world of interior design.

Our National conference in New York City was a testament to the ever-evolving community of the Interior Design Society. This conference served as a platform for conversations about the importance of building and empowering a values-focused team, the substance of style, the essential elements in luxury design, and the science behind it all.
